McAlester, Oklahoma · Est. 1911
The oldest club in southeast Oklahoma
Eighteen holes on rolling ground, a pool full of families, and the best view in town from the terrace. Members since 1911.
The Club
McAlester Country Club has been in the same place for 115 years: a golf course laid out in 1911, a clubhouse that fills up on Friday nights, and a membership that mostly knows each other. It’s a family club first, and it has never pretended to be anything else.
Golf
Arthur Jackson’s original nine, still in play
The Scottish-born architect laid out the first nine in 1911 across the ridges south of town. The course plays to par 70 over terrain that never sits flat, and the MCC Invitational has been contested here every year since 1958.

Since 1911
A quarantine house on the first green
The club’s first years read like the town’s: a smallpox quarantine house standing on the first green, bermuda grass laid by inmate labor from the state penitentiary, and a U.S. Amateur champion who spent a season on staff. All of it is documented, and none of it is on the current site.
